    Just one more week and the musical show of the year will be presented in the H&R Ballroom! This event occurs on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12, at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. Tickets are still available at $8 for reserved seating and $6 for general seating.

    The day came... and after much planning and preparation it could not have gone any better.
    Some of the “Palm Cay Anglers” left Friday, a day before the fishing event, and stayed the night in Daytona with friends and family. And then some of us got up early and met at 4 a.m. (yes I said 4 a.m.) on a Saturday morning at the Oasis and set the GPS for Ponce Inlet, Florida.

    The Life South tri-colored bus will be in the Health and Recreation parking lot on Monday, Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for blood donations.

    The bloodmobile from Florida’s Blood Centers will be in the parking lot of Palm Grove on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Florida’s Blood Centers are the only providers of blood for all Marion County medical facilities, including all three hospitals. Donors will receive a free movie voucher and a free bowling coupon. You can donate if you have high blood pressure, are diabetic, have been cancer free for one year. There is no upper age limit and most medications and conditions do not prevent you from donating.

    The Annual Health Fair will be held Thursday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Palm Grove. Many professionals will be on hand to answer your questions and various screenings and tests will be available, including hearing and blood pressure. No appointments are necessary to come and browse and speak with the many physicians and health care representatives participating.

    Visiting Angels will hold free confidential memory screenings as part of National Memory Screening Day, an annual initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) to promote proper detection of memory problems. The screenings will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the OTOW Circle Square Commons area in the Visiting Angels establishment, located at 8405 S.W. 80th St., Suite 14.

    Cherrywood Estates will have a Saturday AARP driver safety class for working people Dec. 3 and Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members.

    Christmas Angel Tree
    OK, Cherrywood grandmas and grandpas, the Cherrywood Angel Tree will be up and decorated with the names of needy children in Marion County by the end of the first week in November.
