    Civic Chorale begins rehearsals

  • Long before Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and Blue Cross, Jews have been caring for their sick in compassionate hospital settings. As was the case before public hospitals came into existence, most hospital care was under the auspices of religious groups. For Jews, this posed the problem of the obtaining of kosher food as well as the discrimination practices against Jewish doctors. To this effect, Jewish hospitals were set up in major cities to alleviate these problems.

    The chess club that formed at the Freedom Public Library meets the first Saturday of the month, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Grab your board and chess pieces and come on down.

    Victorian Tea Party scheduled

    A Victorian Tea Party will be held on Friday, May 10, at the Grand Ballroom, 108 N.E. Magnolia Ave. starting at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $18 per person and include buffet, music, a dramatic presentation from “Father Knows Best,” raffle items and a silent auction.

  • The Elders of Southwest Christian Church, 9045 S.W. 60th Ave., have called Peter Bunch to be the church’s full time Minister and Music Director as of March 1. Bunch had been serving as Interim Minister of the church.

    Easter eggs, plants at Hawthorne

    Hawthorne Village, 4100 S.W. 33rd Ave., Ocala, will be having its semi-annual plant sale on March 29 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. All plants, herbs, and vegetable plants are $1. Also on March 29 from 10 a.m. to noon we will be holding an Easter egg hunt, free pictures with the Easter Bunny, and face painting. It will be a day of fun for the whole family.
