    Church car wash scheduled

    Bible Baptist Church (SE Campus) is having a car wash, bake sale, bounce house for the kids, and face painting. MoJo’s catering truck will be there with good food to purchase.
    Get your car washed for $5 (larger vehicles are $10). Enjoy good food, baked goodies and watch all the kids have a really good time.
     All of the proceeds go to fund our church’s future mission trips.
    Our next mission trip begins on June 12, going to Santa Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

    West Marion Business meeting

    The general meeting of the West Marion Business Association at the Marion County Sheriff’s office on State Road 200 will be May 27 at 5:15 p.m.
    This month’s meeting includes a short presentation of what SCORE is and what services this group of former business owners share with other business owners. Harvey Paskin, who is making the presentation, has even prepared a small questionnaire which is intended to help members assess the status of our business.

    It may have been rainy and dreary outside on Friday evening, May 2, but it was all sunshine and smiles inside the Klein Center at the College of Central Florida for the SPCA’s gala fundraiser, “The SPCA of Marion County’s Gone Bunco.”

    CF commencement set

    The College of Central Florida will hold its spring 2014 commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, at First Baptist Church of Ocala, 2801 S.E. Maricamp Road. Tickets are not required; however, a large crowd is expected and parking will be limited. Carpooling is encouraged.
    The Distinguished Alumni Award will be presented to Sindy Schneider, class of 1993, who is co-owner of Dance 411 Studios and 411 Productions in Atlanta, which co-produces televised shows for Bravo TV, MTV, Lifetime and NBC.

  • Gerard and Georgeina Abrahams celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. Their church, Joy Lutheran, honored them with a luncheon on Sunday, April 27, following worship service in Swenson Hall. They were married, in New York, in 1939, when he was 22 years old and she was 19 years old. Their secret to a long marriage is all about communication and a sense of humor.

    Oak Trace yard sale


    Oak Trace Villas will open their community to visitors for the annual community- wide yard sale this weekend. The sale is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 25 and 26.

    The community is located two blocks from State Road 200, off 103rd Street Road.
