    Sheriff’s Foundation barbecue set A barbecue dinner-dance for the benefit of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Foundation will take place on Friday, Oct. 23, at the Harvey Klein Center at CFCC.

    Music will be by Sugarbear, and the event will be catered by Tip Top Catering.

    Tickets are $25 per person. Doors open at 6 p.m.

    Church to have spaghetti dinner The Church of the Advent will sponsor an "All You Can Eat Spaghetti Dinner" on Friday, Sept. 11, starting at 5:30 p.m. Included will be three meatballs, salad, bread, dessert, and beverages. Donations are $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

    Art show to help United Way There will be more to browse at Dillard’s than the latest fashions over Labor Day weekend.

    Twelve artists from Citrus and Marion counties will display their work on Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sept. 6 from noon to 6 p.m. Art work will be for sale.

    A portion of the proceeds of the sale will benefit the United Way of Marion County.

    Half price book sale

    The Friends of the Dunnellon Public Library Book Store will have a July Half Price Book Sale at their store inside the library at 20351 Robinson Road (behind Sweetbay) for all of July. They call it the Summer Reading Extravaganza. Thanks to the great community response for donations, the Friends are able to keep their everyday low prices of $2 for hardcovers, $1 for large paperbacks and .50 for paperbacks. The Friends have committed to a landscaping project and are giving the library $2,500 per month for book endowment (new books).
