World class golf comes to OTOW

Golf professionals from around the world will be heading for OTOW’s Chandler Hills Golf Course on March 11 to 14 to compete for a share of the $100,000 purse. More than 100 PGA tour golfers are expected for this event.

Opening day Tuesday, March 11, is a Pro-Am Tournament where three amateurs will pair up with one professional golfer. It’s a shamble format with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

After the pro-am play there will be an awards dinner that evening (ticketed event). Cocktails (cash bar) at 5:30 p.m., dinner and entertainment at 6:30 p.m.

The first round of the Ocala Open is Wednesday, March 12. Players start at tees No. 1 and 10 at 8 a.m. and noon.

The second round is Thursday, March 12. Players start at tees No. 1 and 10 at 8 a.m. and noon.

The final round is Friday, March 13. Players start at 8 a.m. at tee one.

There will be food tents at holes 5 and 12. A variety of food and beverages will be available for purchase – cash only. Chandler Hills Restaurant and Sid’s Coffee Shop will be open and will accept credit and debit cards.

Admission and parking are free, with a complimentary shuttle service available. During the Ocala Open there will be a VIP Hospitality Tent and tickets are available at the Chandler Hills Golf Club. Cost is $50 per person per day, or $100 per person for all three days.

Complimentary food and beverages provided by Bonefish Grill, Pepsi, Starbucks and others. The VIP Tent will be next to the Chandler Hills Community Center.

Two local charities, Go Red for Women and Interfaith Emergency Services, will share in more than $40,000 raised by this golf tournament. For up-to-date information, visit www.ocalaopen.com, or call 861-9712.
