Widening of 200 is topic of meeting

DOT presentation is Tuesday, Sept. 13

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will have a public hearing about the plans to reconstruct and widen the segment of State Road (SR) 200 from north of the Citrus County Line to south of County Road 484 in Marion County.
FDOT is proposing to widen the existing two lane roadway to four lanes, with the addition of a 40-foot grass median.
Further improvements include bridges for wildlife, pedestrian trail access and equestrians, and the installation of a wildlife fence on portions of FDOT right-of-way.
The project is not yet funded for construction.
The public hearing will be 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, 11251 SW Highway 484, west of State Road 200.
There will be a formal presentation at 6 p.m.
Staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions before and after the presentation.
Verbal comments may be provided directly to a court reporter before and after the presentation.
According to FDOT, the public hearing is being conducted to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social,  economic and environmental effects of the propossed improvements.
