Mark your Calander for the next luncheon Wednesday, Feb. 11, at noon. We like to see more of our neighbors come out and join us.

Democratic Club

A sincere thank you to all who contributed to ensure the Christmas 2008 party was our best ever. Volunteers for setup and cleanup enabled us all to enjoy the festivities. Plenty of delicious food, cakes, cookies, and soft drinks. Everyone had a gift from the grab bag.

We were pleased that County Commissioner Barbara Fitos and her father, 200 Coalition President Pat Gabriel, Delphine Herbert of Marions for Peace, activities director Geri Watrouse and Frank, and Nancy Archer our writer for the South Marion Citizen were able to attend and enjoy the festivities.

We will make plans Feb. 20 to determine what we need to do to work with our elected representatives at the local and national levels to assist them where possible in their efforts to solve the enormous mess the country is facing. We shall also be considering the new ownership changes at Cherrywood and how they affect us all.

Our young people serving in Iraq and Afghanistan need our support and thanks year round, so please work with our veterans organizations and our Support Our Soldiers Committee to show our appreciation. In December the veterans organized a collection which resulted in SOS being able to send 29 packages to our young men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Voter registration cards are available if you want to register or change party affiliation.

The Cherrywood Democratic Club meets monthly on the third Friday at 2 p.m. in the Clubhouse. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call Harriet Scarpino at 873-9955.
