Travel Toppers invite travelers for excursions

-A A +A

Travel Toppers invites you to join us for these fun excursions. If you note a trip in which you are interested, please check your calendar, and call to reserve your seat.

Reservations for our cruise to Cuba planned for Nov. 5-9 on the Norwegian Sky have been filled.  Even with the port changes, this has proved to be a popular cruise.  More than likely the promotions that include a free beverage package, prepaid gratuities and a $75 per cabin shipboard credit lead to many early bookings.  Currently names are being taken only for the wait list. If you are interested in being added to this list, contact Inge at 352-237-7428 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Sunday, July 8, we will travel to the Show Palace to see “Ain’t Retirement Great.”  The cost is $80 per person and includes transportation, driver tip and lunch. This is a funny and delightful look at our retirement years with a cast of four singing 20 original songs. It is a show for and about retirees, those about to retire, baby boomers, seniors and anyone who wants a fun time at the theater. Call Linda at 352-861-9880 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to book. You must make your reservation no later than June 7 for this event.

Aug. 9 we will again visit the Show Place to see “Honky Tonk Laundry.” The cost is $80 and includes transportation, driver tip and lunch. When Lana Mae Hopkins, owner and proprietress of the Wishy Washy Washateria, hires Katie to help out in the laundromat, they soon find themselves up to their elbows in soap, suds, and cheatin’ hearts. Watch these two country angels join forces to turn their good ol’ laundromat into a bootscootin’ honky-tonk, exacting a touch of revenge against those that done ‘em wrong, all while guaranteeing every customer good, clean time!  To book call Linda at (352) 861-9880 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Bookings open June 18 for the Sept. 22 performance of “Academia Nuts” at the Just for Laughs Dinner Theater in Largo. Lunch provided by Havana Harry’s 2 consists of roasted pulled pork, Cuban “Mami” chicken, deep-water Pollack scampi, sweet and sour meatballs, sausage and peppers, sliced ham with pineapple sauce for entrees.  Other foods available include yellow rice, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, sweet roasted plantains, salad bar, Cuban bread, key lime pie, peach cobbler, cinnamon raisin bread pudding, and coffee or tea.  Reclusive professor Peter Smedforson finds his sedate life is suddenly turned upside down when his home is invaded by Tammi, a free spirit from Atlantic City whose luck has run out; Judith, a scholar determined to unearth a lost manuscript in his home; and by Stewart, Judith’s reprehensible ex-husband who is trying to beat her to the manuscript. Bookings for this event opens Monday, June 18. Call Inge Gaitch at (352) 237-7428 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to make your reservation for this laugh-filled event.

Several other trips have been planned for this fall and winter.  On Oct. 20 we will travel to the Alhambra Theater in Jacksonville to see “1776.”  On Christmas Day we will travel to the Show Palace for the “Show Palace Christmas.”  Details for these events will appear in future articles.

Trips are open to all residents of On Top of the World and their guests, including Indigo East and West and their guests.
