Purple balloons, purple crepe paper streamers and purple clothes are among the ways that area businesses plan to decorate inside and outside their establishments on Thursday, April 16 to celebrate cancer survivorship and to bring Corridor awareness about the May 1 and 2 Relay for Life at West Port High School.

The event is a “day of awareness” sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

Homeowners are also encouraged to participate in the fun day by putting up purple signs on doors or in yards to create a consciousness about both cancer and the Relay for Life.

Those who would like to be an official part of the Paint Your Town Purple Day are asked to contact Tricia Marks at 352-854-3986 or e-mail tmarks@smcitizen.com.

Registration forms and information about the Relay For Life are available from the American Cancer Society anytime at (800) ACS-2345, or by visiting the Web site at www.cancer.org.
