Suspicious incidents reported at two more churches in area

Two more churches were added to the list of burglaries or suspicious incidents in the area recently.

3 On Aug. 20, Marion County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Living Waters Wesleyan Church on County Road 484. It appeared that someone had tried to force entry into a rear storage room.

3 On Aug. 23, at about 1:40 a.m., at Christian Life Church on County Road 484, a Broward County man was arrested and charged with resisting without violence, giving a false name to a law enforcement officer, and loitering and prowling. A deputy was conducting security checks of local churches and saw James Donald Robertson, 54, at the church, trying to conceal his face with a jacket, according to the report. The suspect refused repeated requests to respond to the officer and was subsequently restrained and arrested. His real name was discovered after he gave several aliases to the deputies.

Two women were arrested after a shoplifting incident at Walmart shortly after noon on Aug. 17.

Markeshia Anguinia Jackson, 27, of Northeast 50th Place, Ocala, was charged with retail theft, and Shawanda Nicole Butler, 26, of Juniper Drive, Ocala, was charged with giving a false name to a law enforcement officer.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the two were spotted by a loss prevention officer at the store, where he observed some goods being concealed. The two paid at the self-service checkout for just a couple of items, and attempted to leave the store with unpaid items in children’s clothing and school supplies worth $391.23.

A bicycle and lawn ornament were missing from a building separated from the main residence on 64th Lane Road in Bahia Oaks. Entry was made to the building sometime between 7:30 in the morning and 4:30 in the afternoon on Aug. 20.

Two automobile burglaries were reported recently to deputies:

3 Stereo items were taken from the trunk of an unlocked vehicle on Southwest 103rd Lane in Sun Valley sometime between 6 p.m. on Aug. 15 and 4 p.m. on Aug. 18.

3 Cigarettes, a knife, an exercise grip and loose change were taken from a locked pickup truck on Southwest 110th Avenue in Dunnellon between 5 p.m. on Aug. 18 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 19.
