Spread your musical wings

-A A +A
By Nancy Archer

Our newest Songbird dropped into the clubhouse on a Wednesday. She said she could only stay for a few minutes.

Guess what? Not only did she stay for the entire practice – she had so much fun she joined the flock.

We aren’t high-toned Songbirds – if you love music we’ll take you under our wing even if you “can’t carry a tune,” are shy or have a game wing. You don’t have to read music – and no dues.

We’ll be learning brand new songs beginning Jan. 14 and we’d like to have a few more Cherrywood Songbirds perched on the risers.

Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 2 p.m. in the Clubhouse. For more information, call Aprile at 237-0924 or Edna at 291-8815.

Ladies Luncheon

On Dec. 10 we had 45 ladies join us at the Clubhouse for lunch and a little bit of magic performed by Brian LaPalme. We collected toys for the children on the Corridor, most were stuffed animals. We also donated half of the proceeds from our 50/50 drawing to the soldiers, a total of $30.

We had two birthdays this month; Sue Anderson and Carol Adams. The door prize winners were Carol Newbaur and Joan Welch. The 50/50 winners were Eavenna Ramsey, Nancy Archer and Millie Glass.

Next month’s Ladies Luncheon is Wednesday, Jan. 14 at noon. Bring a covered dish to share and join us.

Democrats’ Party

The Cherrywood Democrats have invited Commissioner Barbara Fitos, 200 Coalition President Pat Gabriel, columnist Nancy Archer and her husband Frank, and activities director Geri Waltrouse to the annual Christmas party Friday, Dec. 19. We’ve planned a covered dish affair with grab bag exchange.

We ask that you remember the young people serving our country and make a donation toward their needs through the Support Our Soldiers committee or a veterans organization.

The officers and members of the club would like to wish all our friends and neighbors good health, a very Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year.

Voter registration cards are available if you want to register or change party affiliation.

The Cherrywood Democratic Club meets monthly on the third Friday at 2 p.m. in the Clubhouse. For more information, call Harriet Scarpino at 873-9955.
