The Elders of Southwest Christian Church, 9045 S.W. 60th Ave., have called Peter Bunch to be the church’s full time Minister and Music Director as of March 1. Bunch had been serving as Interim Minister of the church.
In preparation for serving as a church minister, Bunch studied at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri, as well as Warner Southern University in Lake Wales, Florida. Bunch also studied music at the Jordan Conservatory of Music in Indianapolis, Indiana. His service in ministry includes churches in Bedford, Texas; Berwick, Victoria, Australia; Bellingham, Washington as well as churches here in Marion County.
Bunch was ordained to the Christian ministry in May 1977 at the Blendville Christian Church in Joplin, Missouri. As a student at Ozark Christian College, Bunch sang in the choir, played the pipe organ for chapel and coached small group ensembles traveling on weekends to serve in churches. Prior to attending Ozark College Bunch served as worship/music minister for several churches in Indiana.
Peter and his wife Penny, who is a retired school teacher, have been married for 46 years and have one daughter, Staci, who lives in Ocala and worships at Southwest Christian Church with her husband.
Bunch says his primary focus is to lead Southwest Christian Church to become the church God wants it to be, being sound in doctrine, generous in love, and reaching our surrounding community for the Kingdom of God. Bunch and the church invite anyone seeking to find a place of worship to visit Southwest Christian Church and experience first hand God’s love extended through His people. Southwest Christian Church is a traditional worshiping church.
