Social club sailing to the Caribbean

-A A +A

We all encounter stress, even those of us no longer working for a living or reasonably happy in our personal life. It can be induced in many ways. Most of the time just watching or reading the news can provoke it, especially if it makes you angry or depressed.

Try to take a “news fast” every once in a while. We all have to do what’s best to reduce our stress level.

We can’t change the world. Deciding to change something in us is difficult enough. What we can do is to work on our attitude.

Also we need to find a way to relax each day. Some of us find it by practicing yoga. Animal lovers can relax by stroking their pet. Meditation is an excellent way.

The serenity prayer says it all: “The serenity to accept those things you cannot change, courage to change those things you can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

Social Club

This club is sponsoring a cruise, open to members and guests, sailing Dec. 7, for seven wonderful nights. It leaves from Port Canaveral and sails to the eastern Caribbean.

Prices range from $440 per person for an inside cabin to $638 per person for a balcony cabin, add $211.77 for port tax and fees. Bus transportation available from OTOW and return for only $25 per person.

Call Larry Wilver at 861-0609 or Margaret Orlando at 854-7306. You can also call direct to Affordable Travel (toll free) at 1-877-553-8537 for more information or to make a reservation.

The last Thursday of every month our OTOW News is delivered right to our door. This is an excellent place to check out what each club is doing. You might possibly then decide to join one.

Besides shows and free movies, the Cultural Center is the place to go for some classes and exhibitions. The chairs now are wider and very comfortable.

For those of you interested in golf, OTOW will have its own pro golf tournament.

We also have our Travel Toppers who take us to places outside of Ocala. Then there are casino and baseball trips.

Till next week – let’s live in the moment letting the future take care of itself.

June Roberta is retired and lives in OTOW. She enjoyed a diverse career, including being a legal secretary to a theatrical attorney on Madison Avenue. Call her at 237-9208, or e-mail OTOW news to her at jroberta@cfl.rr.com. Deadline is a week prior to Friday’s publication.
