Shooting in Florida Highlands

Marion County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes detectives are seeking information about a shooting that occurred around the 8200 block of SW 151st Place in the Florida Highlands on the evening of Saturday, Feb. 4.
A 21-year-old man told detectives he was riding his four-wheeler in the area of the “mudhole” with approximately 50-70 people present. This area is known to attract large groups of people on Super Bowl weekend.
He said it was at this point when he was knocked off his four-wheeler and he realized he had been shot in his right arm. The victim said he asked several people for help but they did not render aid to him. The victim said he then got back on his four-wheeler, drove back to his residence and called 911.
The victim went to the hospital and was treated for a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound.
Detectives are now reaching out to the public in an effort to find anyone who witnessed this incident.
