Sarah, wink this

In a posting on her Facebook account, former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) made a ridiculous and sickening statement about health care reform that it would result in an Obama-created “death panel.” Supposedly her little boy, who has Down syndrome will be killed, along with others like him and the senior citizens had better watch out that they’re not turned into Soylent Green. This insanity is the United States of America in the 21st century. According to the academically challenged Palin, people will undergo a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care. “Such a system is downright evil.” She pointed to a recent speech by none other than Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn,) warning of the dastardly involvement of Rahm Emanuel’s brother, a doctor, in the health care debate: Rep. Michele Bachmann highlighted the Orwellian thinking of the president’s health care adviser, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, in a floor speech to the House of Representatives. “She is to be commended for being a voice for the most precious members of our society, our children and our seniors.” Could this be an early trial balloon for a Palin/Bachmann ticket in 2012? We can only hope and pray so.

The Republican Party back in the beginning consisted of Whigs and Federalists and later adopted the Republican name, 20 years after Jefferson’s party changed from it to Democratic Party. Republicans today still have the same political agenda they maintained since the 1800s. They started calling it the GOP which is known as the Grand Old Party. Some say it stands for Greed, Oppression and Propaganda/Power for which they are best known down through history. (Abraham Lincoln notwithstanding, who would NOT be a Republican today.) Their only way of staying in power is by aligning themselves with the rich, the powerful and the Christian right. Whenever they have managed to gain control of the government they have caused the country much grief. Hence their decline in power for decades, until citizens either forget their corrupt leadership or younger voters came along who weren’t familiar with their misgovernment and poor leadership. They are experts at scheming politically, and one of their favorite methods is to pick candidates who are famous or well known, such as military leaders, governors, actors and anyone with well known names such as Reagan (the onetime Democrat) and Bush.

The Republican Party and Sarah Palin are a match made in Ronnie’s “socialized medicine heaven.” Palin, like all the other anti-universal health care buzzards, speak of these “death panels.” What they won’t tell you is that right now, under our current, broken and crooked for profit health care system, private corporate officials act as your own personal “death panel,” deciding who lives and who dies; this is no fantasy, but hard cold fact. Usually it is only one corporate employee who decides whether their corporation pays for your operation. This lone, corporate official literally decides who lives and who dies. These corporate officials, who have a legal duty to maximize profits for their shareholders, currently decide whether or not you get the operation or treatment you need. There are no “death panels” in Obama’s Plan, nor is euthanasia paid for in his plan; only traditional, lawful and legal methods of life termination are included. In other words, Sarah Palin (and the other universal health care-haters) is a mendacious prevaricator. She’s a real, loving, caring Christian, isn’t she? Someone should ask her, “Would Jesus oppose fully-paid universal healthcare for all? Or would Jesus be pro-corporate, working to protect the profits of the private health care corporations?”

Yes Sarah Palin, we prefer a “government takeover” to a corporate official deciding whether or not we get the operation or treatment we need; at least the government official has a duty to protect the rights and interest of the citizen, whereas the corporate official has a legal duty to maximize profits for their corporate shareholders. In the past, after gaining control of the government, they gave big business a free hand by deregulating, refusing to enforce laws and passing legislation which caused the savings and loans failures and later the devastation wrought by corrupt corporations like Enron. By removing controls on corporations, refusing to protect the environment, and cutting taxes, they gained huge contributions to help them win elections. Reagan was the instigator of the trickle-down economics or “voodoo economics” as George H. W. Bush called it when campaigning against him. During his time in office the downsizing, mergers and off-shoring of factories began in earnest. He also gave the wealthy huge tax cuts which further reduced government revenue and incurred further debt. Bush II decided he would copy Reagan instead of his father and was very successful by further reducing

taxes for the wealthy while fighting two wars and placing everything onto the national debt. Reagan, Bush and Clinton to some extent (in his de-regulation decisions) are responsible for $8.5 trillion of the $11 trillion national debt left for his successor. Why be against every social program? Don’t the wealthy and uber-reiche have enough? The Republican Party, with many decent exceptions, is sounding evil and paranoid. Will they stop at nothing to take down the president together with our country by organizing the type of people they enlisted to stop the ballot counting in Miami/Dade, 2000? The average Joe protesting another recount should have worn masks – they have been easily identified as professional staffers and rabble-rousers bused in from all over the country. Some nine years later they are at it again at town hall meetings feigning grassroots citizenry who really are noxious weeds!

As I was saying . . .
