Opening night scheduled

Tickets are now on sale for “Opening Night at the Reilly Arts Center” the one-night-only, inaugural concert in the renovated city auditorium.  The performance takes place on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Reilly Arts Center, 836 NE Sanchez Ave. Tickets range from $35 to $75 and can be purchased online at www.ocalasymphony.com or by calling the office at 352-351-1606.

Concert goers will begin the night with a tour of the Italian countryside via Ottorino Respighi’s Pines of Rome, known from Disney’s Fantasia and culminating in a triumphant march through Rome with the audience surrounded by musicians on stage and in the balcony. After intermission, the audience will experience Gustav Holst’s The Planets like never before with a live orchestra and HD video projections above the stage. The newly-renovated city auditorium, now the Reilly Arts Center, features incredibly live acoustics, state-of-the-art sound and lighting, and an interior that blends the original 1930’s art-deco charm of the building with today’s technological standards.

The opening of the Reilly Arts Center is three years in the making and has been made possible by a private and public partnership between the OSO, its donors, and the City of Ocala. Events and performances in the RAC for the remainder of the fall season include professional ballets, a University of Florida production of Phantom of the Opera, a silent film festival with live music, holiday stage productions of A Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life, and more!
