Pass your dish around the Oasis

-A A +A
By Fiona Blair

Hello readers: Tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m., is not only the last day of the month, but the day when friends and neighbors of Palm Cay come together at the clubhouse and share food and fellowship. Sally Neuberger is offering chicken Marsala with mushrooms as the meat dish this time, for $1.

A great bargain. Bring your dish to pass around that will feed six to eight people and have a wonderful time.

Blood Drive

It’s that time again! Mark your calendars for the Big Red Bus to be at the Oasis on Wednesday, March 18 from 8 a.m. to noon so that you, dear Palm Cay residents, may offer your donation of the “gift of life.”

It only takes a little while, and the Florida Blood Bank appreciates your gift as there is always a shortage of blood. Remember, do not drink tea or coffee, but please do eat breakfast.

Republican Club

Next meeting of the Republican Club will be on Thursday, March 12 at 7 p.m. Pat Gabriel, president of the Southwest State Road 200 Coalition, will be the guest speaker. She will be discussing all the happenings along our section of the Corridor. Come and bring your questions. Refreshments will be served.

Pancake Breakfast

The winner for last week’s Wal-Mart gift card was Dana Wheeler. It was a chilly morning but 198 folks cast the weather aside and joined each other for hot coffee and eggs, pancakes, sausage and juice. That is quite a turn out.

Birthday celebrants this month include Al Pain, John Tierman, Rosemary Bellavance and Muriel Rosebrough. Congratulations to Allen and Lucille Seefeldt in celebration of their wedding anniversary.

If this many residents can come out during one of the coldest mornings, then let us see if we can top this number next month when it will be warmer.

Thanks to Russ and Julie Hoyt and the volunteer wait staff and cooks for all they do in order to make this breakfast a success.

At the Hop

The Flamingo Club’s “At the Hop” show is ready to entertain you on Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m. This show will take you down memory lane and remind you of all the wonderful songs of the ‘50s.

Don’t forget to bring your $1 for the $50 drawing. Someone will go home richer for the experience. Call Ruth Daldin for more information and tickets.

Ice Cream Social

Did you have fun at the Ice Cream Social? Wow, Brian DePalma sure knows how to work his magic. A great deal of audience participation made the event more fun as well.

Did you see the destruction of a $50? Apparently it was not, as it reappeared in a lock box.

Thank you to Brian for making the evening so much fun. Ice cream is everyone’s favorite, and there was quite a selection of flavors on hand along with a variety of toppings.

It was a great time for fun and fellowship, and thanks to Nancy Solomon and her helpers for making the evening so enjoyable.

Spring Dance

Another fun event for our Palm Cay residents is the Spring Dance on Saturday, March 14, and is sponsored by the Palm Cay Line Dancers. It is not too early to purchase your tickets which are $5. They will be available March 2 and 3, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Oasis.

This is a BYOB and a BYOS event. If you need more information, contact Carol Beaver who is in the Palm Cay directory.

March brings forth milder weather and the opportunity to become more involved in the many Palm Cay activities. Enjoy.

Until next time ...

There is box in the library at the Oasis for residents to place their newsy tidbits, group activity information, travels, etc. Fiona Blair is listed in the Palm Cay directory or e-mail to fiona-blair@hotmail.com.
