Master the Possibilities

ByEloise Hollyfield

Travel, learning opportunities, and a lovely open house event constitute this week’s OTOW Happenings.

Master the Possibilities
Our Master the Possibilities Center for Lifelong Learning is in full swing for the New Year! Next week features approximately 24 classes that are just beginning, and almost all of these have openings. The variety is indeed remarkable.
Some of these new offerings include: a World Cultures series that will feature Japan; a presentation by a retired British Inspector on the differences and similarities between US and English policing; two films series (free to all); wellness classes; computer offerings; and hands on art. I’m sure there’s something for everyone, and this is just the beginning of 2012!
The catalog, available online, at the Center (8415 S.W. 80th St.), and Freedom Library has over 500 learning opportunities, and the Center is always adding more. You can view the catalog online and register there as well at www.masterthepossibilities.com, go to the Center itself or by phone by calling the registration line – 854-3699. Both the online and telephone registration line services for registering are available to you 24/7.
Why not make attending classes at Master the Possibilities one of your (kept) New Year resolutions? You will be surprised by the quality of these offerings!

OTOW Lions Club
PDG Lion Estelle Clark held an open house on New Year’s Day for fellow Lions Club members, family and friends. Being a Southern lady, she served the traditional meal for this special day: ham; black-eyed peas; rice; biscuits, and, of course, many different types of desserts, including homemade pecan pie, and beverages! Hors d’oeuvre offerings included crackers with a nice selection of cheeses and olives.
It was a lovely event where old friends came together and new ones were made —the perfect day to start the New Year!

On the Road Again
The Smoky Mountains and Pigeon Forge Show trip scheduled to depart on Nov. 11, is almost sold out. If you want to go on this seven-day motor coach extravaganza, don’t procrastinate – call Bob Woods ASAP.
The Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard motor coach trip, departing on Sept. 15, includes visits to many historic locations on and around the Cape and Martha’s Vineyard.
Looking a year ahead, a new cruise has been added to the 2013 schedule. This trip will be on board the Jewel of the Seas and will leave from Tampa on Jan. 19, 2013 for Cozumel and Key West. There are great prices available for “early bird” bookings, including a $50 shipboard credit per cabin. Prices include transportation, government taxes, port fees, and more.
For itineraries, pricing, and other information, or to get a flyer about upcoming trips, contact Bob by phone at 352-854-0702 by phone or visit his website at www.bobwoodsontheroadagain.com.
Happy New Year, everyone!
