Lions finish work for vets at Ritz

By Eloise Hollyfield

An OTOW Lions Club update and a reminder of the upcoming New Pretenders performance constitute this week’s OTOW Happenings updates.

Lions Club
On Nov. 16, the OTOW Lions Club, in partnership with Volunteers of American, completed furnishing two living quarters at the Ritz Hotel for homeless veterans, thanks to the generosity of OTOW Communities, Ac/Atina Self-Storage, Senior Transitions, Walmart 200, and others. Although completed, some additional items have been added to help turn these rooms into homes.
At the club’s regularly scheduled meeting on Jan. 10, it was reported that applications for residency are now being taken, and club members are very excited to see these rooms become homes to two worthy veterans who have served their country.

New Pretenders Troupe
The New Pretenders are gearing up for another show. “Celebrate!” is all-new and guaranteed to entertain you for two solid hours.
Performances are slated for Feb. 10 and 11 (Friday and Saturday) at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m.
Tickets cost $6 for general admission and $8 for reserved admission.
Tickets are available any Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning at the Health & Recreation building from 8 to 10 a.m.
A spokesperson for the New Pretenders Troupe says, “If you’re thinking “I’ve seen this before”, you couldn’t be more wrong! We never repeat selections from previous performances and this one is very diverse in its content. We are excited about our music and comedy numbers plus some outstanding costumes.”
