Ocala Open Golf Tournament benefits

local charities and a $100,000 purse!

Candler Hills Golf Club will be host to the 3rd annual Ocala Open Golf Tournament on March 24 to 28. Candler Hills Golf Club is the prestigious golf course at On Top of the World Communities in Ocala, Florida. The four-day tournament will be played Wednesday through Saturday with a Pro-Am scheduled for Tuesday. This year’s purse will be $100,000.

On Top of the World Communities has established an outstanding reputation for leadership and community service in the greater Ocala and Marion County area. The Ocala Open Golf Tournament will benefit two local charities: Interfaith Emergency Services and Go Red for Women. Interfaith Emergency Services is a not-for-profit organization which brings together people of all faiths who seek to minister to persons in need through combined prayer and action. Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association's nationwide movement to wipe out heart disease, the #1 killer of women.

The 2008 Ocala Open was a great success, drawing 144 golf professionals to the field. The two aforementioned charities received $25,000 each that was raised by the tournament. Local businesses embraced and supported the event with sponsorships and spectators. The 2009 Ocala Open is sure to be an even bigger success.
