Ocala Health appoints Keyser cardiovascular surgery director

Ocala Health announces the appointment of Eric Keyser, MD, FACC to Medical Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at Ocala Regional Medical Center. In this role, Dr. Keyser will lead all aspects of cardiovascular surgical services, including staff education and training, patient care practices, quality initiatives, and equipment procurement. Dr. Keyser specializes in the latest minimally invasive cardiovascular surgical techniques, performing most of his heart bypass surgeries off-pump, which often affords the patient a faster recovery and shorter hospital stay as well as reduced risk of stroke or memory problems.
Dr. Keyser most recently served as clinical director and attending surgeon in the cardiothoracic surgery section of Essentia Health Heart & Vascular Center in Fargo, North Dakota. Dr. Keyser’s education is from McGill University, Montreal, Canada and includes a Bachelor of Science in Physics, a Medical Doctorate, a Master of Surgery, and a Master of Science in Experimental Surgery. His postgraduate medical training include research fellowships in Critical Care Medicine, Surgical Education and Minimally Invasive Surgery at McGill, a completed residency in General Surgery at the McGill University Health Center, a completed residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Schneider Children’s Hospital in New York, and a clinical fellowship in advanced Adult Cardiac Surgery at the Harvard Medical School Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He is a certified diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in General Surgery, and of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Cardiac Surgery. He is an active member and fellow of several medical and surgical societies.

Keyser is a member of Cardiovascular Surgical Associates, with practices in Ocala, St. Petersburg, Brandon, Clearwater and Orlando. His clinical focus of expertise is in heart valve repair and minimally invasive adult cardiothoracic surgery. His office is at 1805 S.E. 16th Ave., Building 1200, Suite 1201, Ocala.
