See how new writers gain insight into how to traverse the road to self-discovery. Oak Run Travel

There will be another sale date for our cruise planned for March of 2013 on the Royal Caribbean “Allure of the Seas.” Be sure to mark your calendar for Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 9 a.m. in the Orchid Club card room. If you have questions call John Casabianca. You do not want to miss the opportunity to sail on this magnificent ship. It is like only one other cruise ship in the world, also by Royal Caribbean, named “Oasis of the Seas.”
John Casabianca will also be selling, on the same day in the card room, a Bermuda cruise out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. It will sail on April 13, 2013, for 7 nights. The cost varies by cabin and includes the bus and tips. A lot of residents in Oak Run have been asking about a Bermuda cruise that sails from Florida rather than New York. Well this is your chance and since it became available all of a sudden there is little time to publicize. John will have flyers which will be posted soon in the Orchid Club.

Royal Oaks Women’s 18 Hole Golf
On Tuesday, Aug. 14, we played “Three Blind Mice.” After play, 3 holes were drawn at random by our golf pro, Lorie, and the scores of these 3 holes were eliminated from our total score. Of course, we were all hoping that the holes that we did poorly on would be eliminated and that was the case for some, but not all of us. Better luck next time! The “lucky” winners were: First Flight - 1st place, Elsa Berbig, 2nd place, Sylvia Zappia; Second Flight - 1st place, Arlene Klann, 2nd place, Salita Timmermeyer; Third Flight - 1st place, Gayle Feeman, 2nd place, Maureen Edwards. Joann Ellis was closest to the pin. The almost daily afternoon rain has helped to make our greens fabulous but it has also made our rough deadly!

Winners of the low net tournament held on Aug.2 are listed in order: Flight A - Marti Babb, Connie Bingham; Flight B - Sue Marentette, Jennie Buccella; Flight C - Bev Schasel, Bebe Hahne; Flight D - Kate Lott, Delma Miller. Closest to the pin was Kate Lott. There were no chip ins

We still have to put up with a few more weeks of steamy hot weather but sure will be glad when the cooler weather gets here.
