Mother's Day Breakfast is May 12

By Diane Bress

Marion Landing’s ever-popular Mother’s Day breakfast, one of the best in the area, will be held on Saturday, May 12. Breakfast will be served from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the Lifestyle Center. Heading up the committee again this year are Paula and Al Boucher with the help of the breakfast crew. The menu will include eggs, sausage, bacon, pastries, fruit, orange juice and coffee. Tickets are on sale now at the Tuesday morning Socials and in the Activities Office and are only $3 each. Come down and celebrate Mom on this very important and festive day.

Senior Games update
Rain or shine, the Senior Games continued. For the most part, all the games were held as scheduled and only a few were moved to a different day or indoors. Corn hole toss and ladder golf came inside, but it didn’t stop the competitors from having a good time. All the winners have been posted on the leader board in the lobby, and after all the scores are tallied and the winners are determined, first, second and third place medals will be presented at the Senior Games Breakfast of Champions tomorrow at 9 a.m. in the Lifestyle Center. Ed Morgan Fitness Awards are also presented at the breakfast. Many new residents participated in Senior Games this year, along with our more seasoned athletes, and many thanks go to the Senior Games committee for making it all happen. See you again next year.

Water exercise
There was a slight delay to the start of Pat’s Water Aerobics class, but class is now meeting each day at 8:45 a.m. except for Tuesday, when it meets at 9:30 a.m. after the Tuesday morning Social. Water exercise is a good cardiovascular workout, and that’s good for your blood pressure and cholesterol levels, but is easy on your bones and joints. These classes are free, no sign-up is required and all are invited. Remember: classes meet weather permitting.
Audrey’s Stretch & Tone class will take a hiatus after the Monday April 23 class, and will resume in November, date to be determined. Audrey wishes everyone a “great summer, and please come down and enjoy Pat’s Water Exercise class. Also, Lina’s Water Aerobics class is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 10 a.m. Both of those classes are a great way to stay stretched and toned over the summer months. Hope to see you at the pool!”

New Theater Group
Would you be interested in joining a new theater group? Resident Patty Willoughby is looking for some people who would like join her putting on performances for the community. “You don’t have to be able to act or sing, as we need back stage people as well,” noted Patty. There will be an initial interest meeting on Thursday, May 24, at 3 p.m. in the Lifestyle Center. Put your name on the sign-up sheet in the hallway of the Lifestyle Center if you’d like to attend. If you have any questions before then, call Patty. Her number is in the phone directory.

Shuffleboard challenge tonight
Don’t forget to come down to the Shuffleboard courts tonight for the first challenge of the season. It’s men versus women and the roster is filling up, but more players are always welcome. If you can’t play, come down anyway and support your fellow residents.
There’s also the first Bocce challenge of the season scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. The sign-up sheet is already posted for that event, and we’re looking forward to a fun afternoon on April 29.

Scrabble Club continues
The next meeting of the Scrabble Club will be Tuesday, April 24, at 1 p.m., and they have decided that they will continue to meet throughout the summer on the first and third Tuesday of the month. If you love doing crosswords, you might love Scrabble, too. The Scrabble Club invites anyone who would like to play to come down to the Lifestyle Center and join them. No sign up is required. It’s a fun afternoon.
