A New York man armed with knives and a claw hammer was arrested after he attempted to enter his ex-girlfriend’s home and was captured by a private investigator and another man at the 103rd Lane residence.

Brian Keith Stebbings, 38, of Huntington, N.Y., as accused of two counts of aggravated assault and aggravated domestic stalking after the incident.

The victim is his former girlfriend and they have “several children together,” according to the report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Stebbings said he was at the residence to see his children. The victim said she had an injunction for protection in New York, and after he was served the injunction, Stebbings allegedly drove his vehicle into her house.

In another report, Marion County Sheriff’s detectives arrested Kinard Ward for attempted homicide following an alleged drug-related robbery gone bad Thursday night, Dec. 2. Ward reportedly went to the residence of Toney Palmer where Palmer’s girlfriend, Keri Barton, answered the door. Barton told detectives that immediately after she opened the door, Ward shot Palmer twice and fled the house.

While investigating the shooting, detectives found marijuana in Barton’s purse and the drug unit responded to the house with a search warrant. More than 500 grams of marijuana were located at the scene, in addition to over $23,000 in cash in Barton’s purse. Barton was arrested at the scene.

On Monday, Dec. 6, Barton identified Ward as the shooter in a photo line-up. Detectives located Ward and arrested him. After receiving treatment for his injuries, Palmer was also arrested for the marijuana found inside his residence.

Ward, 19, was accused of attempted homicide, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and armed occupied burglary.

Barton, 44, and Palmer, 47, were accused of possession of marijuana.
