Juveniles face burglary, theft charges

Willie Thomas is 17 years old. Michael Eugene Smith is 16 years old. Javaris D. Blunt is 15 years old. All are in the Marion County Juvenile Detention for residential burglaries and grand theft charges. “It’s important the community knows about these three, because of their criminal histories,” said Judge Cochran, Marion County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer. “Our detectives know, just days after getting out of jail, two of three teens returned to their criminal ways,” Cochran added.
Detectives say Thomas and Smith were placed in the Marion County Juvenile Detention on June 30, 2011. They faced burglary charges. Thomas and Smith were released July 22, 2011 and the kick-in burglaries started July 28, 2011. “Our detectives are working as many as 15 cases of which they believe Smith, Thomas and Blunt are responsible for the crimes,” said Cochran.
Detectives arrested Thomas, Smith and Blunt on Saturday, Aug. 20. Here’s what detectives say they know:
