Want to spend one or two hours a week conversing with international college students and help improve their English speaking capabilities? For those who speak English well and enjoy working in a stimulating, academic environment, the CFCC Webber Gallery is looking for volunteer Cultural Center Assistants. Each student/volunteer schedule will be unique and the project will run from the end of March through the end of May 2009. Hospice of

Marion County

Volunteer greeters and chefs are needed at the various Hospice houses throughout the Ocala/Marion County area.

As a Hospice greeter, volunteers will be asked to greet the family and friends of Hospice patients, maintain a guest log and generally assist in ensuring the visitors are able to spend time with Hospice patients. Assisting the chef in the kitchen with light meal preparation and delivering trays is another function of this volunteer position. Join the hundreds of Marion County Hospice volunteers by providing this special caring service to patients and families alike. Background screening required for all volunteer positions. Sheriff’s Department

For the person with an interest in the judicial system and looking for an interesting volunteer position that requires just 8 hours a week where he/she can pick the day, the Marion County Sheriff’s Dept. is looking for volunteer bailiffs to assist at the Marion County Judicial Center. Volunteer bailiffs will assist the judicial bailiffs by performing various functions associated with the operation of the court system. Good interpersonal skills, the ability to work with the public and judicial staff, walking and standing, and passing background screening are prerequisites for this volunteer position.
