Friday Forum

Kathy Bryant, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, will give an overview of the “state of the county” when she addresses the June 8 Friday Forum. The event, which runs from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Golden Corral, 2111 SW State Road 200, Ocala, will include a Q and A moderated by former commissioner Barbara Fitos. Always open to the public, the Friday Forum was established four years ago in order to expand civil community conversations about the important issues of our day. Christ’s Church

If you are looking for a church home where Christ is first, you won’t want to miss the services at Christ’s Church of Marion County this week. On Sunday, June 10, our worship service will open with special music by our Worship Choir and a message of inspiration by Pastor David Bellows. The Worship Service begins at 10:30 a.m. Women who are interested in crafts meet on Tuesday morning at 9:30 to work on group and individual projects.

Tuesday, June 12 at 12:00 Noon, Pastor Ray Westman will host a “NEIGHBORHOOD LUNCHEON” and answer all your questions and provide you information regarding the many ministries of CCOMC. Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School at Fellowship Baptist Church: Join us for GAME ON! VBS the week of June 11 through June 15. Adult Vacation

Bible School

Join us for “Bible Jubilee,” this year’s theme for our Adult Vacation Bible School at Countryside Presbyterian Church, 7768 SW Hwy 200, Ocala from Monday, June 18, to Thursday, June 21, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Rev. Ed Tenhor will begin with the bible study. Monday, we will study “God and Creation” from Genesis; Tuesday, “The Historical Jesus and Redemption” from Matthew; Wednesday, “The Holy Spirit and Sustaining Power” from the Book of Acts, and Thursday, “The New Creation, Stirring Within” from the Corinthian Correspondence.

Followed each day by Donna Topp, who will lead praise and singing. We hope to have some surprise musical and skit presentations.

Summer ESL Program

The summer ESL program “Conversation Cafe” at College Road Baptist Church, 5010 SW College Road, is being held each Wednesday at 6 p.m. through Aug. 22. This is a weekly one-hour class. Sisterhood of Survivors

The Breast Cancer SOS (Sisterhood of Survivors) support group meets at Ocala West Methodist Church chapel at 9330 SW 105th Street on the last Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. SOS offers caring concern to those involved with the battle of breast cancer. We will share experiences, be informed and educated on treatments and medications available during our journey with breast cancer. We shall overcome! Dementia Workshop

Dementia Workshop For Caregivers will be at the sheriff’s station in June. Learn how to decrease stress in a caregivers life while increasing the quality of life for the person experiencing dementia. Receive easy-to-understand information about the cognitive decline patients experience and its impacts as the disease progresses. Medical, financial and legal tips and information about local resources are shared. Each workshop is unique and free on the third Tuesday each month 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Cf Corporate College offers Industrial Robotics Summer Camp

The College of Central Florida’s Corporate College will offer an industrial robotics summer camp for high school students July 16-19, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at its Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. The four-day camp provides high school students with hands-on experience building, running and executing programs on FANUC industrial robots. Course fee is $250 and CF instructor is Sam Ajlani.

On Friday, August 17 at 7:30 p.m, Classic Albums Live returns to the Reilly with an exciting performance of The Beatles’ White Album – note for note, cut for cut!

Starving Artists

This Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. visit Williston’s Heritage Park where local artists will exhibit their work in the Williston Chamber of Commerce’s $tarving Artists’ Showcase.

Artists from three counties will be on hand exhibiting and selling their work at starving artists’ prices – all below $100.

In addition to traditional watercolors and photos, artists on exhibit will feature woodwork, stained glass, wire sculpted jewelry, small hand-painted furniture, crayon drawings and more.

This is the Chamber’s first venture into an art show and it hopes that the showcase will grow each year until it equals the success of its October Peanut Festival.

Artists may apply to exhibit and sell their work until 9:30 a.m. the day of the showcase. The exhibitor fee is $25.
