Faces of the Open House Committee

Just down the road apiece this columnist didn’t promise you a rose garden in last week’s column. However, you were promised a picture of the Preserve Open House Committee.

The members missing in the picture are Nancy Anderson and Jean Lanzilatta.

These women are all dedicated volunteers who contribute an invaluable service by providing prospective homebuyers with important information concerning our beautiful community.

From Koebbe’s Kitchen

This tasty recipe makes enough cookies to share with the neighbors.

Six-way Butter Cookies

2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

3/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1 egg

1/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Cream butter in mixing bowl. Gradually add sugar; continue creaming until light and fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla extract; beat well. Blend in sifted dry ingredients gradually.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, until golden brown. Makes about four dozen. Enjoy.

Friday, March 6 – Clubs and Activities Committee meets at 10 a.m. Will continue revisions on rules and regulations. Looking for one active and one alternate member. All residents welcome.

Thursday, March 12 – Water and sewer rates hearing at 6 p.m. at County Commission auditorium at 601 S.E. 25th Avenue. Get the facts, attend.

Saturday, March 14 – St. Patrick’s Day party sponsored by the Aristocrats; $7 per person includes dinner and dance. See Heather Garner for information.

Friday, March 20 – Midwest Club baseball trip to see Detroit Tigers vs. Washington Nationals. Tailgate lunch at ballpark. See Joan Overway for information.

Ceramic class every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in craft room. See Mary Secue for information.

Valentine’s dance DVD in library. Take home to view but please bring back in a reasonable length of time so other Preservists may enjoy it.

DES/SCP Partnership seeking school volunteers in all areas. Fill out an application from Preservist Bob Breffle.

Newspaper and aluminum recycling every Tuesday by the On the Level Club. Contact any club member for pick-up.

Bingo every Tuesday for Preservists and their overnight guests. Cards on sale 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Games start promptly at 6:30 p.m.
