Director Bader steps down from Flamingo Club shows

Hello Readers: The Flamingo Club Variety Show played to a sell-out crowd. The performers brought back the fabulous ‘50s in song and music, songs like AT THE HOP, Blueberry Hill, The Great Pretender, April Love, This Old House, That’ll Be The Day, Tammy and many more. The 90 minute show started off with Tequila and ended with a blast from the past!

It has been learned that this will be Ruth’s last show. We all wish her the very best as she moves forward to other things. We thank her so very much for bringing sunshine into the hearts and minds of Palm Cay’s residents as she tirelessly put together the Flamingo Club shows. God bless you,  Ruth.

She sent a special thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this show a success. And she sent special kudos to Barbara Hall who has been “my right hand these past five years. Without her it would have been a rough job. She made the costumes, set decorations and whatever else was needed. Barbara was always there.”

Thank you to everyone who has supported our shows.

Republican Club

Palm Cay held its meeting on Thursday, March 12 with guest speaker, Pat Gabriel, Chairman of the S.W. Corridor, which includes our Palm Cay Community. She dispelled rumors of stores closing at Heathbrook Market Street, and in fact spoke of the complex having all spaces filled by the end of next year. Next month’s meeting on Thursday, April 9, will feature John Deakins, who is running for State House District 22 currently occupied by Larry Cretul who is termed-out. Mr. Cretul is running for Speaker of the House.  The Palm Cay Republican Club was invited by President Jerry Cauda, of the On Top of the World Republican Club, to attend their meeting on Friday, March 13.  Jim Yancey, Superintendent of Schools, spoke about the enormous monetary cutbacks the schools have been subjected to recently. Among some of the suggestions were to drop salaries and shorten the school week. Mr. Yancey told how Mr. Cretul and Mr. Kurt Kelly are assisting and trying valiantly to work out the best possible solutions.

The weather is now simply beautiful, and we are able to get outside more abundantly for walks, biking, bocce, tennis, golf.  Inside is still an option to participate in any craft activity, table tennis, billiards, cards, aerobics or line dancing. Show your artistic talent and join the painting class… Thanks to all the Chairpersons for putting the classes together.

Until next time….
