Boil water notice ends in Oak Run

-A A +A

Marion County Utilities has rescinded a precautionary boil water notice for 3,400 customers in the Oak Run community that had been put in place due to a 12-inch water main break that appears to have been caused by a lightning strike.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection standard survey requires two consecutive days of satisfactory bacteriological samples taken upstream and downstream of the loss of pressure. Following the satisfactory completion of the standard 48-hour bacteriological survey, the water was determined to be safe to drink.
Utilities crews were able to repair the damaged section and return the water main to service, restoring full water service capacity for the Oak Run community.
Residents are being notified via media release and community notice board posts that the precautionary boil water notice has been rescinded.
