Blame the unions? 03-04-2011

The newly elected Republican governors are blaming the big, bad, out-of-control unions for the financial problems that they face trying to balance their budgets. I must ask how can 6.9 percent of the private union workforce be responsible for this economy. Wisconsin has taken a page out of the federal government’s playbook used for not meeting their budgetary goals.
The Republican governors are cutting taxes for businesses and the shortfall that these tax cuts create is made up by higher taxes for those individuals that are still lucky enough to have jobs. By giving these tax cuts the Republicans are actually the irresponsible spenders creating these deficits and the Democrats seem to be the only ones that know how to cut the deficit.
If the Republicans are serious about cutting spending to reduce the deficit then all they have to do is go back to the Clinton years to see how he cut spending and at the same time was paying down the deficit. In fact, if President Bush had followed Clinton's' financial plan the total deficit would nearly be paid off right now in 2011.
You could never accuse the Republicans of putting America back to work to pay down its responsibilities because recent history has proven that they only care about tax cuts for the rich. The only jobs that the Republicans are interested in creating is to teach the middle class how to say "Do you want fries with your burger!"
