An Ocala man was arrested and charged with attempted homicide and felony criminal mischief after an incident shortly after midnight on Oct. 14 in Pine Run.

Julio Cesar Campos, 44, of Southwest 107th Street, was jailed on no bond.

According to the report from the Sheriff’s Office, Campos had met a former girlfriend and had gone to her residence. She said they went there to talk.

However, she reported that he tried to force himself upon her and she resisted. She had a gun and went to get ammunition for it, but he got to her and allegedly stabbed her in the arm.

She said he then put the gun to her face and pulled the trigger, but the gun was still unloaded. She told deputies that he kept repeating “I’m going to kill you and then kill myself.”

She tried to calm him down, and they went into the kitchen and sat down, she told officers. When he put his head down, she ran out the door to a friend’s house and called for help.

When deputies arrived at the house they found extensive damage and blood in various parts of the house, and the toilet had been pulled out of the floor and water had leaked out to the carpet. There were book shelves knocked over and a television set was damaged. Some marijuana was found in a bedroom.

The suspect was not in the house and other deputies were put on the lookout for him. A deputy spotted him at the BP gas station at State Road 200 and 103rd Street Road and took him into custody.
