Are you turning purple yet?

Thursday is the day. Next Thursday, April 16. Remember? It’s the day we hope that all of our readers will turn purple. It’s a time when both individuals and businesses can help raise awareness for the upcoming  Relay for Life.

Put purple balloons on your business door – or purple lettering on a marquee. Paint your hair purple. Or maybe your grass.  Anything, to help turn the Corridor purple for the day.

It’s a spirit thing to draw attention to – and energize the community for — the annual Relay for Life fundraiser that will be the first weekend in May.

Few of us have not had a good friend, a spouse, a sibling who has not been affected by the terrible disease of cancer.

The good news is, that there has been a decrease in almost every kind of cancer in recent years.

The bad news is, the disease has not been conquered.

Funds raised by events such as the Relay for Life help provide money to educate people about possible causes of cancer as well as for research and support for those with the disease.

The event itself is a day when those touched by cancer can come together for support, and cancer survivors can celebrate.

Let’s begin the momentum to have the area’s biggest and most spirited Relay.

Let’s show we are ready by Painting Our Town Purple.
