  • Relieve I-75 traffic, link Tampa, Jacksonville

There’s a move afoot to help rectify significant traffic issues on Interstate 75. A group dubbed the I-75 Relief Task Force recently formed for the purpose of helping the state in addressing transportation needs.
One of the considerations involves a road that many in Marion County don’t even know exists. It’s called the Suncoast Parkway, and connects the highway maze in Tampa to U.S. 98 in Hernando County.

  • OTOW Lions fight hunger

The need for help doesn’t stop after the Holidays. There are still those people who need our help. In conjunction with Lions International, the Ocala On Top of the World Lions will be joining a World Wide Week of Service to fight Hunger and Poverty. We will be collecting Non-Perishable foods at several locations on State Road 200. We hope that the residents will help us fill the shelves at Interfaith so those less fortunate will have food.
You can drop off your donations at the following locations.
n The lobby of the Recreation Ballroom at On Top of the World.

  • No room at shelter for drop-off cats

Due to necessary renovations to the cat rooms at the animal center, Marion County Animal Services has temporarily suspended intake of owner-surrendered cats. Beginning in January, the cat adoption and stray rooms will be hard hat-only areas as crews work to replace the roofs, and no cats will be able to be housed there for the duration of re-roofing activities.

  • Jeb visits OTOW

    By Mike Wright
    Citrus County Chronicle
Former Gov. Jeb Bush may be languishing in the polls, but he looked and sounded like his old self among faithful Monday afternoon.
About 400 people crammed into the Circle Square Cultural Center in Ocala’s On Top of the World community for a town hall meeting during which Bush spoke of supporting military veterans, senior citizens, the mentally ill and having the gumption to destroy the country’s most serious terrorist threat.
