A quadriplegic living in a home on Southwest 103rd Street Road was arrested and accused of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mark J. Weiner, 46, was arrested after deputies responded to his home late on June 5 acting on a tip. There were also women listed as caregivers present in the home, but Weiner allegedly told officers that he alone was responsible for growing the illegal substance, which he said was an experiment.

Deputies are investigating a burglary of a home that netted the thief a small amount of money and two firearms. The incident took place at Southwest 52nd Terrace in Timberwood.

In other incidents reported:

Two suspects, one a juvenile, were accused of burglary after a residence at Southwest 150th Street in Dunnellon was broken into. Chris Casey Bryant, 18, of Southwest 158th Lane, Dunnellon, was accused of burglary, and Michael Allen Gibbs, 15, of Southwest 29th Court Road, Ocala, was accused of residential burglary.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents in the Southwest area:

3 An Ocala man was given a notice to appear for retail petit theft after an incident at Walmart on April 25. Shawn Richard Wiley, 39, of Southwest 85th Place, allegedly took two headlights from the automotive section of the store.

3 A woman reported the theft of a piece of jewelry from her home on Southwest 105th Place.

3 A resident of Southwest 79th Place reported that a pressure washer was stolen from a shed on her property.

The following reports were provided by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office:

Ryan L. Beck, 25, of Salt Springs, was accused of petit theft and financial fraud after he allegedly took a telephone out of Walmart without paying for it, then tried to return it, saying he did not have a receipt.

Jonathan D. Simms, 20, of Southwest 37th Drive, was accused of burglary, grand theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after a burglary at a residence on Southwest 66th Court.
