  • Ballroom christened as Preserve wedding chapel

    The entire Spruce Creek Preserve community congratulates and extends best wishes to newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Hendrix. Preservists Mac Hendrix and Clare Globis were joined in holy matrimony by Community Association Manager Steve Butts on Saturday, Feb. 23, in the Community Center ballroom.

  • Sign up for AARP safe driving class

    Be a safe driver. AARP is sponsoring a 55 Alive driving class March 13 and 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $10. This class makes you eligible for reduced auto insurance rates.

    Fifteen people must sign up to have the classes. If interested, call Donna Nelson to register or for more information. She is listed in the Palm Cay directory.

  • Troubadours present 'An American Songbook'

    The Troubadours’ spring concert, An American Songbook, will be presented at the Palm Grove Center on Thursday and Friday, April 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. Tickets on sale in the Orchid Club lobby March 8, 12, 17, 22 and 31 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Also 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 22. Reserved seats $5, general admission $3.

    The concert will feature music by American composers from Stephen Foster to Richard Rogers and Leonard Bernstein.

    We all encounter stress, even those of us no longer working for a living or reasonably happy in our personal life. It can be induced in many ways. Most of the time just watching or reading the news can provoke it, especially if it makes you angry or depressed.

    Try to take a “news fast” every once in a while. We all have to do what’s best to reduce our stress level.

    We can’t change the world. Deciding to change something in us is difficult enough. What we can do is to work on our attitude.
