Identity theft has become more prevalent since the economic recession that began in 2007. Lost or stolen wallets, checkbooks, and debit and credit cards are the most common means of fraud. It’s easy to lose or have them stolen if we don’t keep aware at all times when using them.

Women are more likely to be fraud victims than men. The focus on theft is mainly in stores and restaurants. Women regularly frequent those places.

Everyone in Oak Run, couples included, is welcome to the next meeting of the Singles Club at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 26 in the Orchid Club. MaryJo Lawson of Citrus Hearing Impaired Program Services (CHIPS) will be there to talk about services for hearing- and speech impaired residents.

In view of the broad spectrum of Oak Runners this subject might appeal to, we would like to invite non-members to this meeting.

Just down the road apiece, with our country well into a new year, well into a new president’s reign, and well into an economic slump rivaling the Depression, this Preservist realized recently that the loyal jar of peanut butter that has always stood the test of time in the kitchen cupboard is well into being empty.

No problem though, barring a recall, the peanut butter will be replenished, once again claiming its stance in the awaiting cupboard.

There was a delightful response to my Sadie column. Even Sadie remarked, “Did I do all those things?” God love her. Thanks so much to all who called and e-mailed such nice compliments.

The featured group in this column is the Billiard Boys. They have been very patient, especially because their picture was taken weeks ago.

The “boys” have an 8-ball bunch, who play from 2:30 to 5 p.m. This is “open billiards” and is played Monday through Friday. Residents and non-residents are welcome but no one under the age of 18.
