    The Cherrywood Veterans Club celebration of Veterans Day was a great success. There was an excellent breakfast to start the day. Our ceremony to honor all veterans was held at 11 a.m. with our own Color Guard Marching (cold but proud). Guest speaker was Mile Curran, Past Commander of VFW Post 4781.

    Thanksgiving is over and most of us ate way too much. But! Christmas is three weeks away so you can diet until then and be ready to “pig out” all over again. Don’t forget it is Battle of the Bulge day on Dec. 16.

     Garage sales
    It was Spruce Creek North’s community garage sales on Nov. 4 and 5. Barb Turner is the organizer of these sales and she reported that the sales went very well.

    The Master the Possibilities Life-Long Learning Program is running a full schedule of classes for the first two weeks of December.
    This is a first for them, and enrollments have been brisk. There’s a variety of presentations and a wonderful holiday film series that are free.

    Lions Clubs throughout the country hold our nation’s veterans in high regard, so the OTOW Lions Club was pleased to provide the Veterans Day program on Nov. 11 at the flag pole area of the Health and Recreation Building to honor our nation’s veterans.

    Poolside horse races will have a western theme on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m.
    Get your Cowgirl or Cowboy Rider,  Decorate your Horse Western Themed  and get your rooting section together and let’s have fun.
    Then plan to celebrate the evening dancing to our favorite DJ, Richard Becotte.
    He says he will play music until you  tell him  to stop.  Remember to bring some snack with you and your favorite drinks.
    Remember to bring your dollars for the 50/50 tickets.

    The Oak Run Garden Club will be celebrating its silver anniversary holiday luncheon at the Royal Oaks Golf Club on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 11:30 a.m. The club has been in existence for 25 years here at Oak Run. Tickets are still available at the Orchid Club on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 8 to 10 a.m. Please note cost is $16 per person. There will be no tickets sold at Royal Oaks.
