William E. “Bill” Ellis, 86, of Ocala died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 in Ocala. Bill and his wife Joanne moved to Oak Run, Ocala in 1992 from Bull Shoals, Arkansas. He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran. Bill was a graduate of K. State University of Manhattan, Kansas with a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering. He retired in 1985 from DuPont Chemical having achieved the position of principal division consultant. Bill was a member of the Ocala West United Methodist Church. Along with Joanne he was an avid golfer and together they enjoyed traveling. He was the last of five siblings to be “reunited in Heaven.” Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Joanne; children Kathy Gilchrest (Bobby) of Ocala, Mark Ellis of Rehobeth Beach, Del., and Gregory Rothfeldt (Donna) of Tampa; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patricia Ditto of Orlando; brother-in-law, Douglas McLeod (Bobbie) of Gulf Shores, Ala. A memorial service was Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 at 3 p.m., in the TimberRidge Chapel of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 9695 S.W. 110th St. Ocala (phone 352-873-4114).
