Wheels enjoy thrills and chills

Whoever said that bicycle riding cannot be fun? Palm Cays “Thrills on Wheels” bicycle group decided to park the bikes and treat themselves to some good old-fashioned ice cream Sunday evening.

As the group of bicyclists has grown with friends from neighboring communities as well, we all decided to park the bikes and treat one another to various flavors of ice cream, and enjoy the warm breezes by the Oasis poolside.

After the ice cream disappeared... the riders were back on their wheels and enjoyed a ride around the Palm Cay community.

Bicycling is great fun... on and off the wheels.

Water Aerobics

The weather is perfect at poolside and Water Aerobics are beginning Monday, May 4, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Please bring a gallon jug or a ball for the first part of the class. If you need more information, please call Mary Halderman whose number is in the Palm Cay directory. Have fun while getting in shape!

Wednesday Night Social

A reminder for our readers that the Wednesday Night Social on May 20

will be from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost is $2. The residents have a lot of fun getting together and sharing their great recipes.  Just bring enough to share with four to six people and relax. Just think only one pan to wash up!!

You may have seen these ladies perform in previous shows at the Oasis and other communities, but a recent performance at Oak Run was one that had the audience up on their feet.

We are speaking of none other than ‘Joy Lutsie’ and her Good Time Cloggers.

Both the senior and junior dancers had the packed ballroom clapping their hands and tapping their feet. Our local Palm Cay cloggers, Lorna Chambers, Jean Madigan and Donna Nelson, enjoy being a part of this wonderful group of dancers and are rewarded simply by the smiles and joy noted from those that have seen the performance.

Thank you Joy Lutsie for bringing ‘joy’ into the hearts of so many.

Giving to Help Others

The Big Red Bus will be in the Palm Cay parking lot on Wednesday, May 20 from 8 a.m. until noon. Although Jim and Marilyn will not be present to greet you, there is a sign up sheet in the card room.

Following your life-giving donation, the wonderful staff on the bus, offer a refreshment of a juice selection or water, and cookies. An enormous thank you to Jim and Marilyn Flynn who have given so much of their time to organize this oh-so-valuable service.

Also, a big thank you to the staff on the Big Red Bus, who give of their time and talent, and share a laugh or two as well. God bless you all.

Here are the dates for the rest of the year: Wednesday, July 15; Wednesday, Sept. 16; and Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Memorial Day Remembrance

Palm Cay remembers and honors our men and women who have given their all, and those who still fight to keep our freedoms free. The program will begin at 10:30 a.m.

There will be more detailed information in next week’s column.

Games, lunch from Sonny’s and Bingo provide a way to join in and get to know one another. Tickets are available at the Board Meeting on May 13 and at the Oasis on May 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost of $8 If further information is required, please contact Ginnie Chipman, Coordinator whose number is in the directory.

Until next time….

May you all be blessed.
