West Marion Hospital names nursing officer

Ocala Health announces the appointment of Michelle Farris, MSM, BSN, RN-C to Chief Nursing Officer for West Marion Community Hospital.

Farris joins Ocala Health from Terre Haute Regional Hospital where she most recently served as Associate Chief Nursing Officer. She began her nursing career as a staff nurse in women and children services and advanced to leadership positions, including Director of Perioperative Services. Farris’ accomplishments include Joint Commission Certification for Total Joints; Level II Trauma Center status and American College of Surgeons verification; and implementation of staff governance teams.

Farris earned both her Bachelor and Master degrees from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is also a graduate of HCA (Hospital Corporation of America) Executive Development Program. She is relocating to the Ocala area along with her husband and daughter.

Ocala Health encompasses Ocala Regional Medical Center, a 222-bed facility located in the heart of Ocala, and West Marion Community Hospital, a 94-bed hospital located in west Marion County, and Summerfield ER, a freestanding emergency department located in southern Marion County. Ocala Health has the only Commission on Cancer approved cancer center in Marion County.
