Free music from Jazz Society

The Ocala Jazz Society returns to the VFW across from Oak Run on Sunday, July 17, from 2 to 5 p.m.

The group plays a lot more than jazz, featuring standards and music from past years. It’s great music, and dancing is encouraged.

Moose breakfast is served

Freemasons opens lodge for history lesson

Fans of the movies “The Da Vinci Code”, “The Lost Symbol” and “National Treasure”, as well as the popular television channel “The History Channel” should take note: some of the “secrets” and mysteries of the Freemasons will be unveiled in Ocala on Friday, July 22, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., at 1846 S.E. 36th Ave.

For one of the rare times in its 162-year history, the Marion-Dunn Masonic Lodge of Ocala will open its doors to the public for a look at the age-old rituals and ancient symbols of the world's oldest fraternal organization.  

You’ll learn how this global fraternity donates millions of dollars daily to charitable causes which included children with hearing disorders, burn victims and blinding eye disease research.

Kingdom of the Sun concert band

Breast cancer survivors to meet

 

Breast Cancer SOS (Sisterhood of Survivors) Support Group meets the last Tuesday of the month.  The July 26 meeting will be a luncheon meeting at the grill at Stone Creek Golf Club at 12:30 p.m .  The address is 9676 S.W. 62nd Loop.  Stone Creek is a community off Southwest 80th Avenue, north of State Road 200 approximately 4 miles.  Any questions or if you plan to attend, please be sure to contact Gail Tirpak, 352-291-6904 (home phone) to be included in the reservation.

Stuff the Bus charity event

ChiropracticUSA of Jasmine will be hosting a charity event to benefit Operation Stuff the Bus campaign for Marion County on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a Bounce House, water slide, basketball toss, carnival games, food, spinal screenings, K Country, raffles, and much more!! The event will be at 7668 S.W. 60th Ave. #500.
One hundred percent of the proceeds will be going to Stuff the Bus.  There will be raffles of all sorts of merchandise including a big screen TV, food certificates, spa gift cards, oil changes, and much more.  To enter into the raffle you may do one of the following:
Purchase Tickets for $1 a ticket, $10 for 12 tickets, or $20 for 25 tickets.  You may also bring in school supplies or hygiene items that will be priced matched and given back in ticket value.
To participate in the kid friendly activities it is a $1 donation.  For food which will include grilled chicken, beans, chips, a drink, and a cookie it will be a donation of $3.  (Once again all proceeds will be directly given to Stuff the Bus).
For a full spinal screening, which will include digital xrays, Semg, posture analysis, and chiropractic exam the cost will be $10 and will again be a donation for Stuff the Bus.  You also will receive a full report of findings with the doctor.

Peripheral Neuropathy group to meet

The next meting of the Ocala Peripheral Neuropathy Support  Group will be on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. at the Marion County Sheriff's Brian Litz  Building, 9048  S.W. State Road 200. The program for the morning will feature the showing of The American Academy Of Neurology DVD titled: Diabetic Nerve Pain, A Guide For Patients and Families, featuring Jerry Mathers star of "Leave it to Beaver". Yoga at Sholom Park

St.Jude sets flea market

 

St. Jude Catholic Community’s fourth annual flea market will be Saturday, Aug. 13, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.. on the church grounds at 443 Marion Oaks Drive in Marion Oaks. Donations of items in good condition are currently being accepted. Anyone wishing to rent a table may do so for $20. More information may be obtained by calling Iris at 352-307-0565.

Hard Rock Casino Trip

 

St. Jude Catholic Community is sponsoring another bus trip to the Hard Rock Café and Casino in Tampa on Saturday, Aug. 20. Tickets are $30 per person. Each person gets $25 returned for free play and a $5 food voucher. Church seeks vendors

The Church of the Advent, 11251 S.W. County Road 484, is holding its annual Trash to Treasure sale on Saturday Sept 24. (Rain date Oct 1). This will be an outdoor event. Crafters, Flea Market and Food Vendors are invited to attend.  Spaces will be 10 x 10 with many of them being in the shade and rent for $15.00 each.
