Marine Corps yard sale

The annual Marine Corps yard sale will be on Saturday, Oct. 23, in front of Hilton Automotive, 9055 S.W. State Road 200, Ocala, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited.

Yard, bake sale at Joy

Joy Lutheran Church, Southwest State Road 200 at 83rd Place, Ocala, will have its annual indoor yard sale and bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Swenson Hall. The public is invited to donate such items as furniture, tools, gardening equipment and electronics. Kitchen and house wares, linens, books, and craft supplies are also welcome for donation. Please no clothes or shoes.

Yard sale items may be brought to Swenson Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon, or anytime on Thursday, Oct. 21 and Friday, Oct. 22. Baked goods should be brought on Friday. Please have all baked goods wrapped for sale and labeled, particularly if they contain nuts.

As usual there will be the “Vintage” table for the special treasures as well as a craft and quilt section. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Annual craft fair at Circle Square

On Top of the World Communities is hosting the eighth annual craft fair at the Circle Square Cultural Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23. This year’s fair will showcase 100 crafters and artists from all over Ocala/Marion County featuring stained glass, jewelry, ornaments, baskets, handbags and much, much more! Plus, enjoy live entertainment, face painting for the kids, food and more on The Town Square!

Dog wash to take place

The Humane Society of Marion County will conduct a dog wash at its facility, 701 N.W. 14th Road, Ocala, on Saturday, Oct. 23, from noon to 4 p.m.

Pet food donations and monetary contributions are appreciated. All proceeds benefit abandoned and neglected animals.

Share food pickup scheduled

Share food order pickup for Ocala West United Methodist Church will be on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 to 11 a.m. at 9330 S.W. 105th St. You may also place orders for November at that time. Additional sign-up day will be in November on Wednesday the 3rd.

Ministry Fair at Ocala West

Ocala West United Methodist Church, 9330 S.W. 105th St., will hold a “Ministry Fair 2010” on Sunday, Oct. 24, before and after services, 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Booths will be set up around the outside perimeter of the sanctuary , displaying information on the responsibilities and program offerings of the various church committees. Refreshments will be served. Visitors interested in learning more about this church will find a welcome atmosphere.

Saturday, Oct. 30

Gun show planned at armory

Fraternal Order of Police 145 will have a gun show on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the National Guard Armory, 900 S.W. 20th St., Ocala.

CWP classes will be offered for $55. Admission is $6 for adults, children under 12 free. Vendors are being sought. For information, call 352-236-3069.

Trash to Treasure Sale

The church of the Advent will have its fourth annual Trash to Treasure Sale on Saturday, Oct. 30. This will be an outdoor event; rain date will be Nov. 6.

Craft, flea market and food vendors are welcome to participate.

Set up time will begin at 6 a.m. with the actual sale beginning at 8 a.m.

Spaces will be approximately 10 feet x 10 feet and rent for $15 each.

Most of the spaces are shaded. These will be assigned on first come, first served bases. Contact Al Sickle 352-208-5664 for additional information.

The church is at 11251 S.W. County Road 484, 1.3 miles west of State Road 200.

Sunday, Oct. 31

Sheriff’s Office hosts Halloween event

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office Southwest station will have a Halloween Party on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Brian Litz Building, 9048 State Road 200.

There will be games, prizes, clowns, face painting, live DJ, food, drinks and much more.

The Sheriff’s Office is still seeking candy donations for the event. Please bring candy to the above location before Oct. 29.

Choir festival at Joy

On Oct. 31, Reformation Sunday, there will be at Choir Festival at 3 p.m. at Joy Lutheran Church. The service will include songs and a sermonette from Martin Luther’s three ideas of: Faith, Word and Grace. The Rev. Ed Corneilson from St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church will direct the combined choirs of several local Lutheran churches. A light lunch will follow the service in Swenson Hall.

Sax quartet to perform

Marion Chamber Music Society presents The Onyx Saxophone Quartet to perform at Queen of Peace Church Sunday, Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. Composed of four faculty members from Central Florida, they will perform a varied mix of classical concert favorites. The subtlety and power of the saxophone brings a new and exciting color to standard wind repertory. Members of The Onyx Saxophone Quartet are founding member Dr. Jonathan Helton, soprano saxophone, Dr. Michael Bovenzi, alto saxophone, Joseph Tomasso, tenor saxophone, and Mathew Poland, baritone saxophone. Woods and Meadows garage sale

Woods and Meadows will conduct a neighborhood garage sale with more than 100 homes taking part on Friday, Nov. 5, Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th, starting at 8 a.m. each day.

There will be plenty of new and used items.

From State Road 200, go to Southwest 80th Avenue and turn south. Go straight until it dead-ends.

Make a left on Southwest 103rd Street Road and it will be the second subdivision on the left.

Saturday, Nov. 6

Annual bazaar at Marion Landing

On Nov. 6, Marion Landing will be having its annual bazaar. There will be craft tables, jewelry, used books, bake sale as well as white elephant sale. Coffee, sandwiches, and finger foods will also be available.

Fall bazaar at Coventry

Saturday, Nov. 6, beginning at 8 a.m., Coventry Episcopal Church will be having its first Fall Bazaar and Craft Sale. Coventry is at the corner of CR 312 and 475 (20 S.W. 87th Place, Ocala). Be sure to come by and check out our white elephant sale, craft tables, used books, bake sale, plant sale, and 50/50 raffle. You can also please your palate while you shop with a hot cup of coffee and a donut; or maybe an icy cold beverage, and a freshly grilled hot dog!

 

Saddle Oak plans craft fair.

The annual Saddle Oak Club annual craft fair will be Saturday, Nov. 6, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on State Road 200 across from Heath Brook and Publix.

There will be hand-made crafts and homemade baked goods, breakfast, coffee and doughnuts, lunch with homemade soups and sandwiches, and a free raffle every hour.

Ocala Palms sets craft show

Wood turners, artists and jewelry makers are included among the many craft people registered for the annual craft show inside the Ocala Palms community on Nov. 6.

The show is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and admission is free.

Lunch will be available for purchase.

The show is in the Ocala Palms Golf and Country Club, 5000 N. Hwy. 27.

German American Club picnic set

The German American Club of Marion County will hold its annual picnic on Sunday, Nov. 7, from noon to 6 p.m. at Coehadjoe Park, 4225 N.E. 35th St., Ocala. Admission is $5 per member or $8 per non-member. Music provided by Bavarian Oskar! German American food prepared by club members will be served buffet style and includes: bratwurst, polish sausage, hamburgers, desserts, coffee and sodas. Vet program at Palm Cay

“Thank you for serving” is the theme of a program that will be presented for veterans to remind them that they are appreciated and will never be forgotten. Entertainers from various communities, will be providing a wonderful evening of entertainment. You might even consider wearing dance shoes... and dance to a tune or two with the 'stars'.

It all happens at the Oasis ballroom, in Palm Cay, on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.

This show is free for all veterans. Other guests are $2. Tickets/seating are limited and may not be available the date of the show.

SummerGlen holiday, craft fair

On Saturday, Nov. 13, a holiday and craft fair will be held at the SummerGlen Grand Hall. This event is sponsored by the “SummerGlen Quilters” and tickets for quilts will be sold to benefit charities in the Local Ocala Area! These tickets will enable you to win a quilt. There will also be: assorted crafts, boutique items, candles, gourmet goodies, handcrafted baskets, and jewelry.
