Hippocrites (460 B.C. to 370 B.C.) regarded by many as the father of modern medicine, said, “Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food.”

A modern scientist, Dr. Barry Sears, makes a more powerful statement. He says, “Food may be the most powerful drug you will ever take.”

Remember: nutritional supplements are food. And Dr. Sears’ statement refers to all components of our food supply. (Dr. Sears should refer to food as medicine, not as a drug. Nevertheless, he makes his point.)

Consume, digest, absorb, and assimilate Dr. Sears’ statement. Search and learn. Then seek natural remedies for your physical ailments when they arise.

When you are not well, seek natural solutions to correct the problems. No one has a deficiency of prescription medications.

Avoid medications whenever you can. They are dangerous. They cause 2.16 million hospitalizations per year and kill 106,000 people. (Lazarou J, Pomeranz B, Corey P. Incidence of adverse drug reactions in hospitalized patients. JAMA. 1998; 279: 1200-1205.)

On the other hand, Dr. Robert Verkerk, executive director of Alliance for Natural Health, tells us, “Yet food supplements are the safest things people put into their mouths – considerably safer even than conventional foods.”

Avoid the services of the medical industry as much as you can. According to Dr. Gary Null and coauthors of the report, Death by Medicine (www.lef.org/magazine/mag2004/mar2004_aswi_death.01.htm), the medical industry – not heart disease or cancer – is the principal cause of death in the U.S.A. You should download and read this document.

Their report reveals: over a 10-year period the medical industry causes 7,841,360 people to die unnecessarily or prematurely. That’s more than all of the casualties from all of the wars fought by the U.S. in its entire history.

This from licensed, certified professionals, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, nursing homes, and business personnel. And they profess to be the guardians of our health.

One of this report’s coauthors, Carolyn Dean, M.D., N.D., has written a book entitled, Death by Modern Medicine, Ash Tree Publishing, Woodstock. N.Y., 2005. Dr. Dean says we all should take responsibility for our own health. She believes this is the most effective way to solve our current healthcare crisis.

Be vigilant and you will enjoy a superb lifestyle – one which prevents you from getting viral, bacterial, and long latency degenerative diseases. The latter include heart disease, arthritis, macular degeneration, cataracts, osteoporosis, cancer, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and others.

All are serious and debilitating. And all are directly related to nutritional deficiency.

You can avoid these scourges by employing preventive measures. If you haven’t yet begun, start now to support your diet with nutritional supplements.

Begin with a multivitamin as the central focus. Multivitamin supplements contain many vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and herbs. A general assortment of food factors you need in relatively small amounts. But without them you cannot live.

As you require them, your body will give you signals, which forecast the need to take additional supplements. Be alert, read, and learn. And you will know the actions you need to take to conquer adverse events as they arise.
