By Cora Frontin

Be a safe driver. AARP is sponsoring a 55 Alive driving class March 13 and 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $10. This class makes you eligible for reduced auto insurance rates.

Fifteen people must sign up to have the classes. If interested, call Donna Nelson to register or for more information. She is listed in the Palm Cay directory.

Social Night

Come out and enjoy a night full of live entertainment on March 12, at 7 p.m. in the Oasis. Social Director Nancy Solomon will present The Sentimentals – they “sing” and “play instruments.”

The cost is $2 per person. Refreshments will follow the show.

Potluck Social

Social Director Nancy Solomon reported another winner of a dinner. February’s Potluck Social was attended by approximately 60 Palm Cay residents.

Most of them paid the extra dollar for the main meat dish, country ribs.

Everyone enjoyed a variety of good food, good conversation and a good time.

From the 50/50 drawing to the door prizes, many residents went home lucky winners.

Nancy Solomon reminds everyone to remember the next Potluck Social on Saturday, March 22, at 6 p.m. in the Oasis.

We will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with corn beef as the main dish for the extra dollar.

Recycle

Please help the environment and your community at the same time. Palm Cay has two dumpsters at the end of 80th Avenue. These dumpsters are for aluminum cans, newspapers and magazines. They are labeled as to what goes where.

The money that Palm Cay receives from this goes directly into the PCHA treasury and is used to help subsidize various functions.

The Hatters

The Proud to be Hatters had their monthly lunch meeting at Chilies on S.R. 200. They ate an excellent meal, talked of the past holiday season, and welcomed newcomer Carol Beaver to the group.

There were no birthday celebrations for the month. They plan to explore the Mason Jar for the choice of next month’s restaurant.

Support the

Bingo Games

Loretta Holmes makes afghans and other crochet items to give away for prizes at the Palm Cay bingo games. She is asking for donations of yarn.

Call her if you have yarn you wish donate; she will be glad to come pick it up.

Loretta Holmes is listed in the Palm Cay directory.

Spring is Coming

Celebrate the coming of spring and dance the evening away at the Spring Dance, sponsored by the Palm Cay Line Dancers.

The date is April 12, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Oasis.

The music will be by Gloria and Mel. Cost of tickets is $5 per person.

Tickets will be sold March 24, 25 26, and 31, and April 1 and 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Oasis.

There will be a 50/50 drawing and door prizes. This is a BYOB affair.

The dance is open to Palm Cay residents and overnight guests.

Singles Club

The Singles Club is planning their annual Miniature Golf Party, but no date has been set.

On April 2 they plan to take a carriage tour of a local horse farm.

The Singles Club meets on first and third Wednesdays of the month at 3:30 p.m. in the craft room at the Oasis.

If you are single and would like to meet other singles, this is the group for you.
