One Ocala, One America schedule

A variety show, a children’s event, an outdoor movie and a festival at Citizens’ Circle will highlight the annual One Ocala One America Week happening Oct. 5 to 8.
The observance is designed to promote racial harmony and cultural awareness. It is coordinated by the City of Ocala’s Racial Harmony and Cultural Awareness Task Force, which is chaired by City Councilwoman Mary Sue Rich. The task force is composed of City staff and local volunteers of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
The public is invited to attend the following complimentary events:
Wednesday, Oct. 5 – One Ocala One America Variety Show
The One Ocala One America Variety Show will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Reilly Arts Center located at 500 NE 9th St. This event will include performances from local musicians, dancers, storytellers and more, while promoting a theme of racial harmony, diversity and cultural awareness.
If you are interested in participating or performing at this event, please contact Stan St. Louis at 352-292-6477 or stansaintlouis@gmail.com. Performances will be limited to ten minutes each. A brief rehearsal will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Reilly Arts Center.
Thursday, Oct. 6 – Kids Involved in Diversity Social (KIDS)
The Kids Involved in Diversity Social will start at 6 p.m. at the E.D. Croskey Center located at 1510 NW Fourth St. This event will include multicultural music, dance, crafts, vendor displays and other family-friendly activities.

Friday, Oct. 7 – Movie at Citizens’ Circle
The feature film “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” will be shown at 7 p.m. at Citizens’ Circle located at 151 SE Osceola Ave. This event is complimentary and will include popcorn and drinks. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.

Saturday, Oct. 8 – Ocala Cultural Festival
The Ocala Cultural Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Citizens’ Circle located at 151 SE Osceola Ave. This outdoor festival will showcase a variety of international foods, music, crafts and family-friendly activities that unite our diverse community.
