Performing Arts group prepares spring show

EDITOR’S NOTE: The South Marion Citizen is seeking a volunteer Oak Run correspondent to gather news items, put them into a readable form, and possible attend meetings and take pictures. Anyone interested is asked to call 352-390-6444.

The performing arts club of Oak Run is engaging in production of it's Spring 2014 show under the directorial leadership of Mr. Garth Markum. A relatively new resident to Oak Run, Garth brings an impressive list of accomplishments in theater acting, production and direction.

After receiving his BFA degree from Ithaca College, he went on to become the assistant producer of the Corning Summer Theatre. At this esteemed theater he worked with such actors as Shirley Booth, Vivian Vance, Van Johnson, and William Shatner.

His work was showcased in productions of Man of LaMancha and Camelot. Garth also had the pleasure of directing such shows as The Fantastics, Black Comedy,White Lies, and Boeing, Boeing to name a few.

Garth adds: "There is such good energy with this group and a swell of momentum, after the fun the club had producing this past fall's Wizard of Oz, that we don't want to slow down for a moment. I invite all interested to come and join in on the fun. Either as potential cast or as one of the very many important roles that make our theater a reality. There's virtually something for everyone to contribute."
