More thefts reported at Walmart

Three more individuals were charged with retail theft recently after incidents at Walmart on State Road 200.

On Thursday, Oct. 22, late in the afternoon, Michael Anthony Roman, 19, of the 13,600 block of Northwest 3rd Street, was charged with retail grand theft. According to a report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Roman was spotted by the loss prevention officer, pushing a shopping cart of merchandise. He allegedly went to two different doors, watched the greeter for several minutes, then left the produce/grocery side without paying for the items.

According to the report he attempted to flee toward the parking lot, and the officer and another employee “used physical force to restrain the defendant” and was then taken to the office.

The value of the merchandise, which was recovered, was $349.35. He was charged with retail grand theft and resisting a merchant, and was taken to jail under a $2,500 bond.

Earlier that same day, about 11 a.m., Thomas John Waguespack, 55, of the 3600 block of West Silver Springs Blvd., was charged with retail petit theft. He allegedly took bacon slams, a small electric heater, a pack of paper towels and one cup of popcorn worth $85.84. He was issued a trespass warning, arrested and taken to the county jail.

On Saturday, Oct. 24 in the early afternoon, Edward D. Lunsford Jr., 50, of the 4400 block of Southwest 159th Street Road, was charged with retail petit theft. According to the report, he paid for $134.83 worth of groceries but did not pay for more than 20 items worth $68.25. He was arrested and taken to the county jail.

On Saturday, Oct. 24, at about 2:30 a.m., Richard William Thornton III, 36, of the 7600 block of Southwest 74th Terrace, was accused of DUI.

He was spotted driving erratically by a deputy, who made the traffic stop after observing him on State Road 200 near Southwest 80th Avenue. After allegedly failing field sobriety tests, he submitted to a breath test with results of 0.21 and 0.19.
