Shots fired at deputies

Deputies from Southwest Marion County were involved in a shooting incident last Saturday morning, but no one was injured.

According to reports, deputies were called to a gas station at West State Road 40 and Southwest 60th Avenue by a woman from the International Villa apartments at 5232 S.W. 21st Place. She reported that her roommate had threatened her with a gun.

The deputy checked for warrants for the suspect and confirmed an active warrant for failure to appear for arraignment for no driver’s license.

Two deputies went to the front door and two were around back, after reports of an assault and an armed suspect.

Tyler John McPartland, who was 26 years old Thursday (Nov. 12), allegedly came out and shot at the deputies who were stationed in the rear. One deputy wrote that “I heard two bullets pass my head area, heard one bullet hit the ground to my left as I saw the dirt fly, and heard a fourth ‘thud’ behind me and felt debris hitting the back of my uniform.”

The deputies were able to reach cover, but shortly McPartland was around front and shooting at other deputies, who returned fire. He ran behind some vacant apartments across the street, but was met by another deputy who apprehended him.

McPartland was charged with four counts of attempted first degree murder of a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, domestic aggravated assault and resisting arrest with violence. Attached to these was the charge of failure to appear for no driver’s license. He was being held with no bond.

3 Timothy O. Johnson, 42, of the 11700 block of Southwest Highway 484, Dunnellon, was accused of felony battery after an incident at his home, in which the victim pointed a gun at him to defend herself, then drove to Walmart for help. Johnson was taken to jail under $25,000 bond.

3 An unlocked vehicle was entered in Forest Glenn and an IPhone and $100 in cash was taken. The owner had parked his vehicle at a party on Halloween night at about 9:30 and returned to it about 3 a.m., but didn’t notice the items missing until her returned home.

3 Marcus Lee Rose, 43, of River Road in Hernando, was arrested for DUI after being stopped for driving patterns that were consistent with an impaired driver after he left the area in the 7700 block of Southwest State Road 200. At the jail her refused to give breath or urine samples.

3 A man who could not be identified was charged with DUI after being stopped at Southwest 80th Avenue and State Road 200 for making an improper turn. A plastic cup containing a mixed drink and a bottle of rum, about a quarter full, were allegedly found in the vehicle. He refused to give a breath sample, and was booked under “John Doe.”

3 Allen R. Lemus, 27, of Northwest 95th Street, was charged with DUI and driving while license suspended or revoked after being stopped for failing to maintain a single lane in the 5500 block of Southwest State Road 200. At the jail, his breath tests registered .193 and .181. The legal limit in Florida is .08.
