Organized fraud charged

Pamela J. Griffin, of Southwest 79th Circle, Ocala, was arrested Friday, Dec. 16, on one count of organized fraud and 12 counts of uttering a forged instrument (forging a check).
According to a news release, detectives developed the case after learning Griffin deposited into her account several checks from several businesses for which she worked, located in The Villages, according to reports. The evidence allegedly shows Griffin deposited a check Dec. 10, 2010, and continued depositing checks through Oct. 26, 2011. The deposits totaled $13,754.91.
She was interviewed at the Southwest District office and attempted to show that she had permission to write the checks, but could not provide proof. She was eventually taken to the Marion County Jail with a bond of $220,000.
n A 27-year-old woman was accused of retail petit theft at Bealls. Leslie Ann Goodman of Belleview was accused of taking 11 shirts and placing them in her purse. Deputies said they also found items from Dillard’s. A check of the jail website shows her with an arrest record dating back to 2002.
n A Lecanto man was accused of petit theft, forgery and uttering a forged instrument after he allegedly took checks from the house of a woman which he was checking for heating and cooling problems. Cory Louis Mester, 24, was allegedly working for a company that had been called by the victim. She said that Mester was coming in and out of the house through the kitchen, where she had left her purse hanging.
Detectives arrested Michael McClintock, 21, for allegedly having sex with an 11-year-old between July and August, 2011. On Nov. 30, the alleged victim told detectives that while she was staying at a friend’s house last summer, McClintock had sexual relations with her on multiple occasions.
On Dec. 13, detectives responded to a house in Silver Springs and a home in Ocklawaha in an attempt to locate McClintock. Family members and neighbors reportedly told detectives that they had seen McClintock acting inappropriately with the juvenile victim.
McClintock made contact with deputies and agreed to come in for questioning. At first, he denied any inappropriate contact with the girl. Then, he allegedly said he did have sexual relations with her, but he did not initiate it. McClintock was arrested for capital sex battery and taken to the Marion County Jail. He is being heldwithout bond.
